Latin-American
artist, Migdalia Cabán, also known as 'Boricua MC', expresses herself through different styles and media, to include oil and
acrylics. Her passion for life and art is vividly depicted in her colorful
paintings. Her artwork is kindled by her playful and inquisitive mind and her
boundless passion for life’s new experiences.
Born
in Puerto Rico, she later traveled to different countries, and has been living in the state of Colorado
in the United States, since 1993.
Influenced by a family
of artist and musicians, she had an inclination for the arts from early childhood; but had
a strong passion for science and teaching, so for several years, she studied Biology and Secondary Education at the University
of Puerto Rico, and Florida State University.
But in 2004, Migdalia had
a dream, which ignited her passion and first experience with painting. Without any previous experience or instruction, she
took her first leap of faith in the art world and painted her first piece, titled; "A Spanish Song" (2004) a portrait of her mother, published on
the American Artists.com and the America Artists magazine, October
Edition, 2006.
In 2006, as her new found love and passion
for painting kept growing stronger, Migdalia decided to expand her education in art, and in 2008 she graduated with a BA from
the University of Colorado. Against all odds and in the middle of the economical recession, she decided to pursue a career as an artist. Today, her art is available and sold in art galleries,
exhibits, and on the Internet. She does paintings on commission, and provides
public painting demonstrations, as well as private lessons, and workshops. She
loves teaching others to paint, and strives to make a difference, and help others through her art.
Migdalia deeply enjoys painting
landscapes, on plein air, and in her studio. One of her favorite subject... Colorado's Aspens.
